3D teak carving journey

Original part joglo house vintage

Often historic properties have idiosyncrasies that you wouldn’t expect to see in a modern property

So, today I am busy with some of the original ornaments of joglo houses that are hundreds of years old.

this was a bit difficult, because I had to duplicate the original ornament with new teak.

I have to enjoy this as part of the preservation of the Central Javanese traditional house (joglo house). and it may take 1 month to completed.

I hope you will be patient to wait for the results later. enjoy the process.

    1. True, this is an important component of a joglo house. The carving realism is very delicate. All of this will be assembled into what is called tumpang sari. Tumpang sari is in the center of the inside of the house, its existence is very symbolic and sacred.

  2. interesting. I know two things about Javanese culture. The gorgeous multi-layered classical gamelan court music, and thetraditional diner feast. COnsisted of something like 25 small dishes of every variety. Shared such a meal with a friend once and we had trouble finding more than 3 dishes we could eat because they were sointensely spicy. 🙂

    1. When was your last visit to Java? Did you try playing the gamelan? And can you name one of your favorite foods in Java? Sorry I was too excited to hear your story my friend 🙏😄

  3. Yes, I played gamelan, but it was at university. I took a course in it for two years, and we used a donated gamelan, which sounded great. Of course we did not sing, for we knew hardly any Baha’i Idonesian. Also, I never visited Java. The Rijstaffel feast I ate with a friend was in Amsterdam. 🙂

    1. That must have been an amazing experience. In central Java itself (some villages in Jepara) children play gamelan in joglo pavilions and also some puppet studios. As for food, central Javanese people prefer sweet food (of course a little spicy), but that comes from the chili sauce, and you can skip the chili sauce if you don’t like spicy.
